Twitter Regimen, No Wait #TweetMethod UPDATE!

Twitter Regimen, No Wait #TweetMethod UPDATE!

I decided to do a quick Dictionary.com search of the word “Regimen” to make sure I was using it properly. Reg·i·men [rej-uh-muhn, -men, rezh-]: Medicine/Medical. a regulated course, as of diet, exercise, or manner of living, intended to preserve or restore health or to attain some result. – Hmm. Not really where I was trying [...]

Lyrical vs. Musical

Lyrical vs. Musical

Like many, music is and will always be a major part of my life. We’ve all recognized how your eating and sleeping choices can affect your day – I really believe that your music choices fall along the same path. Music Inspiration Think about it.  How often does the music you choose to listen to [...]

My New Twitter Regimen

My New Twitter Regimen

Here’s the dealio yo. In the last few months, I’ve really started to build up my Twitter presence. Why, you may be asking yourself? It’s pretty simple to me…I really enjoy conversation. I enjoy listening, learning, and sharing. So Twitter is just a natural step in that direction. My Twitter Page

Time Blocking for Work

Time Blocking for Work

Awhile back, Chris Brogan shot a video that showed his way of blocking time while at work. I’ve thought about this before but by seeing this video, it made me realize that in order to accomplish my goals and objectives for certain projects at work, I needed to develop a similar system for myself.

Lyndsay's 3 Words for 2011

Lyndsay’s 3 Words for 2011

Alright 2011, let’s dance. Chris Brogan wrote a great post about coming up with three words to guide you through the coming year. What I really liked about this idea is that rather than think about the small things and getting lost in those details, it allows you to focus on the big picture. As [...]

jeff bezos • kind vs. clever

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, gave this Princeton graduation address where he speaks about not only the gifts we are blessed with, but the choices we then make with those gifts. I thought it was a pretty cool message. Enjoy!

It took me a few years to figure out that organization used to not be my strong point. Towards the end of college, I realized I needed to work hard on breaking that habit. For awhile, this included cleaning out my backpack every day, buying an external to get everything organized and backed up by [...]

the business of design

This is a great article on how business could be approached by more companies. Bill Breen describes that more companies could approach their problems using a “design-based strategy”. In the words of Roger Martin as said in the article “In a global economy, elegant design is becoming a critical competitive advantage. Trouble is, most business [...]

0.1 iPhone

0.1 iPhone

Yesterday I went for a walk through downtown Des Moines…check out a few of the pictures I got with my wonderful iPhone. I’ve decided to post at least one iPhone photo a week…I’m pretty excited. Stay tuned..

tools to design

Design tools used to be simple : a piece of paper, pencil and possibly a ruler.  But the unending demand for a) improved productivity and b) improved design product has lead to ever more capable and ever more complex design tools.  That complexity has created a training/learning problem:  Constantly evolving tools require constant learning from [...]

andrew san • photography

A friend of mine got really into in photography over the past few months, and wanted a place where he could display his work on a more professional level. I helped him set up his website, which is now up and running. So check out  Andrew San and some of his work. Pretty neat.

ross clark • musician

I’ve also been working on my brother’s site for awhile. Went through a few drastic installation failures…a few themes…a re-install… It’s been a tough process. But I think we’ve finally hit upon a look we both like, and while it’s not completely finished yet, I’m excited to see where it’s going. Check it out – [...]

50-60 years experience required.

Okay, its a bit of an exaggeration, but it sure feels that way to recent college graduates. In order to get a job, you need experience…and in order to get experience, you need a job… the discouraging cycle.  Yet, people do clear this hurdle. Add in today’s challenging employment environment and the internship becomes the [...]

iconic images..

I’m in the midst of doing some research for both a re/design post and another about music and design. Buuut I don’t want to make you think I’m slacking, so once again, here’s a TED video I’ve found on photography. Really really amazing stuff. Speaking of photography, I’m saving up for a camera, and am [...]

child v. adult

A TED video of Adora Svitak. To say that I was impressed by her presenting skills for being 12 years old would truly be an understatement. But also, what she has to say is pretty amazing as well. She’s light years ahead of me and she’s only 12…

re/design • part one

re/design • part one

So right away I found something online that embraces the idea of a “product re-design”. It takes the idea of a simple calendar, and creates something new and different. We all think of calendars as being 12 sheets bound together, tacked to a wall with a pretty picture on one side and a 7×5 grid [...]

the fail-safe option.

the fail-safe option.

Look what the fam got me for my birthday. – This is my fail-safe birthday gift of choice. Sketchbooks have made me happy since I was a little girl drawing floor plans of my dream home. They are like a photograph for me, I can pull out an old one from years ago and remember [...]

the re/design project.

Something I love about design [and at the same time is probably the most frustrating part] is the inability to say a design is “good enough”. It can be frustrating because a designer can always see what they have to do to take their project to the next level. On the other hand, the client [...]

elizabeth gilbert • genius ideology.

This is a fantastic TED video of Elizabeth Gilbert talking about nurturing creativity. I’d say that what she is saying is pretty much…genius.

productivity v. location

productivity v. location

I find that one of my biggest problems is finding a place to sit and work and actually accomplish a few things on the to-do list. I’ve always been one to need to have just the right setting or else it’s just useless to even try. While in school I found a lot of times [...]

wait for it..

Turns out after building a website a few times through HTML, you get spoiled in being able to put things exactly where you want them to be. With WordPress, it’s not so easy… Bah. Cool site below. Will make this post more colorful once I’ve got the whole site configured. Tear Off Wallpaper

efficiency is key.

Getting this site…once again…up and running. I decided to convert my entire website to WordPress. Mainly for efficiency…turns out blogging is a LOT easier with a set format that means I don’t have to constantly create new html pages and such. Plus…it was another medium to learn, right? Oh yeah…more to come soon!
